Asahi Kasei Corp. has inked a memorandum of understanding to embark on a study along with JV partners PTT PCL and Marubeni Corp. to study the feasibility of producing 12,000 tpa of acetonitrile. Acetoonitrile is a co-product of the acrylonitrile manufacturing process and finds application as a solvent in the production of pharmaceuticals, agricultural chemicals and other chemicals.
