Philadelphia-based Arkema Inc, a global diversified chemical maker has announced the price increase of US$0.12/lb for all methyl ethyl ketone peroxides (MEKPs) and blends.
Arkema's MEKPs and blends used in hot and cold curing of unsaturated polyester resins and have applications in building, transportation and leisure sectors.

Bayer MaterialScience will begin marketing the plastics recyclate Levblend through the Internet platform. Levblend is a PC+ABS-R (polycarbonate+acrylonitrile-butadiene-styrene-copolymer-recyclate).

The new recyclate is based on Makrolon post-production waste material from the Uerdingen and Antwerp plants in Germany and Belgium.

Dow Epoxy gets approval of EIA to construct LER and GTE plant at Shanghai

Dow Epoxy, a business unit of The Dow Chemical Company, has received approval of environmental impact assessments (EIA) by China's Ministry of Environmental Protection to build a 100,000 tpa liquid eppoxy resin (LER) plant and a 150,000 tpa glycerine-to-epichlorohydrin (GTE) plant at Shanghai Chemical Industry Park (SCIP) by the end of 2010.

Oil prices plunged below US$111 a barrel as Hurricane Gustav weakened as it neared Louisiana, after rising by almost three dollars to US$118 a barrel earlier in the session. Sinopec forecasts loss in Aug production

Soaring naphtha prices and fierce market competition have resulted in expected loss for Sinopec Corp in its August chemical production, after reporting huge refining losses. Prices of naphtha, a key ffeedstock in ethylene production, more than doubled from the start of the year to more than US$1200/MT, while increases in ethylene prices could not cover the higher costs.
