Petronas slashes petrochem production on deficient demand amid a global economic crisis

Deteriorating demand for petrochemicals amid a global economic meltdown has resulted in stockpiling with several key producers, compelling them to mull production cuts or plant shutdowns. Malaysian sstate energy firm Petroliam Nasional Bhd (Petronas) has announced shut down of its polyethylene and PVC plants including the joint-venture facilities in Kertih for an indefinite period.
