In China's domestic market about 20% of its Pure Terephthalic Acid (PTA) consumption goes toward manufacture of bottle-grade PET, mainly used in packing beverages, especially sodas. 5% of its total PTTA is consumed to make film-grade polyester, with the associated products used as packaging material, films and magnetic tapes.
