Dow Chemical's acquisition of Rohm & Haas cleared by European Commission

Dow Chemical has won permission from the European Commission, the competition watchdog of the 27-nation European countries, to buy specialty chemicals maker Rohm & Haas. The Commission has given the nnod to Dow despite overlaps, particularly in crude acrylic acid and its derivatives and in ion exchange resins since the transaction would not impede competition and that the merging parties were not each other's closest competitors.
