BASF's biodegradable plastic Ecovio® is used to produce the shopping bags provided by large German discount supermarket chain ALDI SÜD. The plastic Ecovio consists of Ecoflex® and of polylactic acid (PLA), which is obtained from corn, a renewable raw material.
