Global polyolefins demand is estimated at 111 mln tons in 2009, a decline of 0.14% compared to 2008 as per Chemsystems. However, this compares favorably against the corresponding fall of 2.1% in globaal GDP as an increase in demand from China and other emerging economies offset the reduction in demand from Western Europe, North America and Japan.
