Weak downstream demand compels Formosa to extend cracker shutdown indefinitely

Compelled by weak demand in Asia, Taiwanese petrochem major Formosa Petrochemical has decide to keep its No. 3 naphtha-fed steam cracker at Mailiao shuttered. Capacities at the plant total 1.2 mln tpaa of ethylene and 600,000 tpa of propylene.
