Goldman Sachs has incurred a loss of about US$850 mln on loans extended to bankrupt units of petrochemicals company LyondellBasell. Yet the December loss, equal to more than 1% of Goldman's book valuee, will not be reflected in Goldman's announced annual results, as the bank has closed its fiscal 2008 books in November.
