Damp markets, weak demand outlook delay expansion of BASF’s Nanjing ethylene cracker

Damp market conditions and weak demand outlook for petrochemicals amid a global economic meltdown has compelled BASF to suspend capacity expansion of its ethylene cracker in Nanjing, China. Not yet abbandoned, the investment in the expansion plan from current 600,000 tpa to 750,000 tpa has been deferred under the current market conditions and expansion will be reconsidered upon improvement in the markets.
