LyondellBasell Industries plans to shutter its low density polyethylene (LDPE) plant at Carrington by the end of 2009 as the plant is no longer economically viable. With a capacity of 185,000 tpa, thiis plant is one of the company’s smallest LDPE manufacturing sites and is unviable as current market conditions require economies of scale and low conversion costs.
